Pati Valley

In the middle of the green immensity of the interior of Bahia, there is a magical region, protected from time and civilization, full of valleys, mountains, waterfalls, caves and viewpoints: the Vale do Pati.

 

These 5 days of trekking inside the Valley provide you with a very deep immersion within yourself and nature. In just 14 native houses spread over a small area of the Pati Valley, which work with wood stoves and solar energy, without any car or road in the middle of the way, the hikers are offered lodging and food, in addition to a very especially in your routine. Being immersed with the natives brings information and ecological awareness as it generates inclusion and contribution to the local community.

This trekking is special because we cross the Valley, from the left end (Guiné) to the right end (Andaraí), taking you between the main points of the region.

Day 1:

 

Departure from Lençóis by car (7h) to Guiné, a village where we will start the trekking. From here we enter the Valley and only return to the car at the end of the third day. The trail begins (9:30 am) with Aleixo hike, followed by an incredible walk through Gerais do Rio Preto, where we can take a dip and head to Pati overview, a breathtaking view of the Valley, on the top of the cliff. After a snack at the overview, we will go down the ramp for a swim in the Funil River Waterfalls. 

We ended the day with dinner prepared by the natives and a bonfire under a very special sky.

Day 2:

 

We will leave the native's house after breakfast and go up to one of the main points of the trekking: the view of Cachoeirão from above. With several falls that often form a rainbow, the 300 meters are breathtaking. After lunch, we will follow to the next natives' house to have dinner and rest.

 

Total day 2: 15km.

Day 3:

 

We will leave the native's house after breakfast and climb the Castle Mountain (1h30m), a steep climb that will take us to the Lapinha Cave, at the top of the Morro. We will cross the cave using flashlights and leave at a breathtaking view of the entire Valley, where we will have lunch. After contemplation, we will return along the same path as we had come for the overnight stay at the native's house to have dinner and rest.

 

Total day 2: 12km.

Day 4:

 

We will leave the native's house after breakfast and go down the valley, where we will enter the Cachoeirão canyon. This time, we will have the view from below, from where you can see several waterfalls over 300 meters high in a breathtaking landscape. At the end of the day we will go to the next house of

native for the last night.

Day 5:

 

Leaving the native's house after breakfast, we will climb Ladeira do Império and descend Serra do Ramalho, ending the trekking in the city of Andaraí. There the car will be waiting for us to return to Lençóis.

 

Total day 5: 15km.

What are we going to eat?

• Typical Northeastern breakfast: eggs, bread, fruit, couscous, tapioca,  coffee.

• Picnic lunch: salad, vegetables, vegetables, bread, cheese, fruits e  cookies.

• Dinner: Rice, beans, pasta, vegetables, meat. 

 

We can adapt for vegan or vegetarian diets.

Where are we going to sleep?

The houses where you will sleep in Vale do Pati are part of the

immersion experience. You will be sleeping in the natives' house, only 14 families were allowed to stay in the National Park when it was

created, and must abide by its rules. It is a great opportunity to discover their customs and way of life. Accommodation includes clean sheets, blanket, pillow and towel. The water they use is pure spring water from the mountains around so the shower is cold.

Guides: Who am I doing the trails with?

Our partner guides are native and have a lifetime of experience in the forests of Chapada Diamantina. They will give you a rich and incredible baggage of the local culture of this magical place, as well as tell you about the geology, fauna and flora of Chapada. They will take you to taste a typical Northeastern spice and most importantly, they love what they do so the energy of our trip is always up there!
