The Fumaça trekking underneath is one of the most challenging trekking in Chapada Diamantina . Cachoeira da Fumaça is the highest waterfall in Brazil, with 1 day access. It's 380 meters of a magical drop.
These 3 days of immersion in nature will take you inside incredible landscapes, waterfalls and valleys: a true museum of our history in the world. Along the walk, there are no support points, so it's 3 wild days, camping and cooking whatever we bring. Trekking starts in the city of Lençóis and ends in Vale do Capão. We usually arrange a transport that picks up in Capão and returns to Lençóis.
Day 3:
After breakfast, we will leave Toca do Macaco and start the steep climb of Serra do Macaco on the way to one of the most beautiful views of Chapada Diamantina: the Fumaça Waterfall from above. After contemplating, we prepare a snack and head to Vale do Capão, where we finish the trekking.
In Vale do Capão, a transport awaits us to take us back to Lençóis.
Total day 3: 15km.
Day 1:
We started the trekking inside the city of Lençóis, going up the Serra do Veneno (steep and open) to the stop at Mirante da Toca da Onça, where we prepared a snack and enjoyed the view. Afterwards, we continue descending to Cachoeira do Palmital, where we will enjoy the large well and fall. We set up the wild camp for the first night at Cachoeira do Capivara (another 40 minutes of trail). We prepare dinner and rest.
Total day 1: 12km.
Day 2:
After breakfast and a dip in Cachoeira do Capivara, we will continue to the grandiose Cachoeira da Fumaça from below, a magnifique view of the higher Waterfall of Brazil. On the way back, we set up camp at Toca do Macaco, prepare dinner and rest.
Total day 2: 8km.
What are we going to eat?
• Typical Northeastern breakfast: eggs, bread, fruit, couscous, tapioca, coffee.
• Picnic lunch: salad, vegetables, vegetables, bread, cheese, fruits e cookies.
• Dinner: Rice, beans, pasta, vegetables, meat.
We can adapt for vegan or vegetarian diets.
Where are we going to sleep?
Camping night.

Our partner guides are native and have a lifetime of experience in the forests of Chapada Diamantina. They will give you a rich and incredible baggage of the local culture of this magical place, as well as tell you about the geology, fauna and flora of Chapada. They will take you to taste a typical Northeastern spice and most importantly, they love what they do so the energy of our trip is always up there!
